A gorgeous, sunny afternoon greeted guests as they disembarked the Daufuskie Island ferry at Haig Point. Renuka and Burke were married on the lush lawns of the Strachan Mansion. Their ceremony was a beautiful blend of both Indian and Christian traditions. As eternal symbols of marriage, Burke tied the minnu around Renuka's neck and also draped the manthrakodi over her head. These are ancient traditions that reflect mutual trust, love and commitment. An elegant reception followed in the grand ballroom of The Westin Resort and Spa on Hilton Head Island. Following the joyful applause of their formal introduction, many friends and loved ones spoke heartfelt toasts to the happy couple. Renuka changed from her wedding gown into a colorful sari for dinner; and then, into another dramatic sari for a wonderfully choreographed first dance with Burke. They danced together like a royal couple, charming and graceful! Blessings to Renuka and Burke on their marriage and as they serve others through the field of medicine.
